Welcome to - Jyotish Charts
My name is Rosemary and I would like to accompany you through the mystery of the Vedas called Jyotish.
Jyotish is probably the finest and certainly one of the oldest astrological systems known to mankind. Its principals are based on classical works written thousands of years ago by great seers with extraordinary powers and insight for natural Law. Their rules consistently work in practice , enabling the discovery of who we really are , by seeing who we are not. This vedic system , its philosophical principles and spiritual insight differs fundamentally from Western Astrology.
Knowledge through Jyotish is not a question of belief; the only scientific attitude one can take on any subject is whether it is true. The law of gravitation worked as efficiently before Newton as after him. The cosmos would be fairly chaotic if its laws could not operate without the sanction of human belief.
Jyotish literally means in Sanskrit- divine light from ‘jyotir’-to shine, to illuminate, Light in the three worlds. It is a study of cycles, and discovery of knowledge, as Plato says ‘ we see our individuality writ large’. These same forces in nature that govern the rising of the sun and moon similarly work through our individual natures causing us to act in certain ways to situations differently, at different times. Through seeing these trends magnified , we understand what forces are working on us , at any given time, and their purpose. There is a time and a place for all things and by seeing this ‘play’ of elements on a grand scale the light of true knowledge is revealed.
Jyotish is a science that has remained almost unchanged from Ancient India ( pre 3000 BC ) and has been passed down through thousands of generations in private tuition from Guru (teacher) to student, with Mantra and Meditation. The task to keep this knowledge as pure as possible and maintain the lineage of tradition is very important.
Once chosen by a Guru, a life in harmony with the spiritual order and great discipline is required. Regular meditation and satsanga ( spiritual discourse ) and most importantly the consistent study of Jyotish Shastra and Vedic Scripture is required. The study of Jyotish is a life long task and only after many years of study and experience can one be called a Jyotishi.
About Rosemary Innes-Jones
I come from a successful career as a professional parachutist , Commercial Helicopter pilot, Aviation manager and Education Founder in Youth Education, being involved in setting up and running several pioneering companies. The sense of enquiry into greater meaning to human existence was ignited fully in 1985-86 with the accidental loss of my husband and partner, then fiancée in 2 fatal helicopter crashes. A serious step towards this enquiry , however , was not taken until the arrival of my daughter in 1990, when I commenced philosophical studies with the Auckland School of Philosophy. I have two very strong sons and a delightful daughter who are all educated in advaita (not two) philosophy through St James School (London) and Ficino School (Auckland). Through my father's love of the sea, and my mother's gentle compassion I have inherited a strong affinity to all things water. My family and extended family are keen sailors or boaties active in Auckland’s maritime scene.
Vedantic studies have been part of my life since 1990 under the umbrella of His Holiness Shantanand Saraswati from India, along with Plato, Shakespeare, Law and Sanskrit from the Auckland School of Philosophy. During this time I established a pioneering and NZQA accredited education programme for disillusioned youth. Here the company used ancient vedantic education principles and Shakespeare in a modern setting - Deer Farming and Farm Forestry, to a modern problem. With the advent of changing Policies and our 5 years of government contracts completed we ended the programme after re-orientating the lives of over 500 students.
Since becoming a parent, there has been an active interest in health, leading to Ayurveda studies since 1994. A health challenge from past head injuries in 1996 brought me to Jyotish, with Jyotish becoming my focus in life in 1999, under the guidance of Geoffrey Pearce in London.
Through Brendan Feeley (US) and my specific interest in medical astrology, I became involved with Shri Jagannath Center of Jyotish study, attending many conferences in US and England under Geoffrey Pearce, Hart de Fouw (US) and Sanjay Rath (India). The deeper understanding of the laws and movements of life presented through this ancient study has led to research work in its integration into western culture. My activities include research into Application of Jyotish in Higher learning, Education and University degree pathways, Family Dynamics and upholding Dharma for Youth, especially women. I am a member of B.A.V.A. the British Association of Vedic Astrologers, and SJC India.
In 2004 I will start a small private school for Jyotish. There will be workshops for Self-knowledge through one's own chart and also basic introductions into this fascinating science.
Jyotish is beyond a particular Religion. It has no association to any dogma. I teach in accordance with the spiritual law given in the Vedas and I shall guide to an understanding of yourself in a spiritual manner.
